The New York Rangers play host to The Boston Bruins tonight with hopes to create a cushion between themselves The Buffalo Sabres and The Carolina Hurricanes for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Bruins are coming off of a 3-2 win against The Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday and have gone 3-0-1 since losing to the Rangers on March 26th. The Bruins have also clinched the Northeast Division, guaranteeing them a top three playoff spot. Most likely the third seed as they are four points behind The Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. However, Boston does have a game at hand against both.
The Rangers picked up a shootout win yesterday in Philadelphia. The two points were much needed as Carolina(9) gained a point against the Buffalo(7). With a Rangers win tonight they will catapult above the Sabres and create a four point cushion for themselves between the Hurricanes.
This is a must win in the minds of the Rangers.
